Mission control, we have a problem!

I fixed our friendly wolves neck yesterday, turns out it was a broken neck. After stripping back his fur and assessing the damage, I found that the factory weld was only tack welded into place. I am surprised that it even made it through last years haunt. After pulling out the welder and laying a couple of beads she was better than new! It won’t break there again. Half way into the night, I got a page from one of our security team members identifying another problem with this monster! Seems he starts his jump and and then stops half way. The whole mechanism just seizes up? I thought maybe a pneumatic lock up so I drained the air lines and tried to manually throw this bad boy into position. No go. Mission control, we have a problem! Needless to say, this bad boy was down for the night. I am going to head in extra early today as this project may end up being a complete overhaul? :(

I often wonder how a supplier can manufacture custom product like this with little to no consideration for quality and longevity. I suppose that because they LOOK amazing and this is what sells, quality takes a back seat. I have basically redesigned & rebuilt this animatronic in just over 1 season of operation. Granted they cycle allot but some basic design and build modifications and techniques would have a long way. Even worse their customer support is non-existent! We have been made aware that Fright Nights at the PNE have an entirely new house, completley designed and built by this company and I am sure by the end of this season they will be regretting their decision? We have two high profile animatronics from Scarefactory and they have been nothing but a pain in my @$$. Oh well, job security for me.

Off to work now, scare ya there! MWAHAHAHA.
